These fall days, before the big, deep chills, take your homeschool outside. Pack up the school books or pack up your lunch and escape. To your backyard. To the park. Have your family supper outside. Mix it up some. Do it now while you can. Before you have to wear a jacket. Before the harsh wind drives you in and makes you close your blinds.

Especially do math outside. Pause to talk about that bird on the branch. What kind is it? Maybe it could remind you of how the Lord takes care of the flowers of the field and the sparrows.

Take something just for you, mom. A good book. That magazine you’ve been meaning to get to. Pen and paper to write that letter. Even if it’s just for five minutes, the children need to see you enjoying too.

Or take nothing at all, just step outside. You just might find that this was the best learning day ever.

Then, at the end of the day, Mama, you might Just Step Outside by yourself. A couple minutes does wonders for rejuvenating you before tackling tucking in time, don’t you think?

This bright, new day, complete with twenty-four hours of opportunities, choices, and attitudes comes with a perfectly matched set of 1,440 minutes. This unique gift, this one day, cannot be exchanged, replaced, or refunded. Handle with care. Make the most of it. There is only one to a customer!  ~ from my  Ellie Claire journal

Sharing this with you because I often have to tell myself to pause, enjoy and learn.
